How to Create Perfect Green Breakfast Bowl. Recipe and Video.


Spring has come to New Zealand and knocking at the door! I feel it. No more cravings for heavy winter food, I eat smoothies for breakfast again and very glad!

The best way to kick-start the morning is to drink a big jar of cleansing green smoothie. Or create fancy smoothie bowl with lots of crunchy seeds, nuts and dried fruits. Nutritious and delicious breakfast! Natural energy booster to keep a little pep in your step in the morning (and during those afternoon slumps).

Add to the smoothie your favorite seasonal fruits, vegetables and leafy green vegetables. And if you want to get all scientific, dark leafy greens contain: high-quality amino acids, important minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and beneficial phytonutrients.

I enjoy the season of sweet and juicy kiwi. I also added a bit of lemon and ginger, which is very good for the immune system at the spring time.


2 Serves

  • 3 Ripe bananas, peeled
  • 2 Ripe green kiwi, peeled 
  • Small bunch of curly kale, stems removed
  • Handful of baby spinach
  • Juice of 1/4 lemon
  • Juice of 1 cm piece of ginger (optional)

For Serves:

Chia seeds, sesame seeds (black and white), flaxseed, nuts, dried fruits, granola, muesli, puffed grains or any your favorite crunchy additions.


Put all ingredients in the blender, mix well until smooth and creamy. If you are using a high-speed blender is not necessary to add the liquid in the smoothie. If the mixture is too dry splash 1/3 cup almond milk or drinking water.

Pour coconut berry smoothie in the bowls, sprinkle with granola, seeds and nuts.
